Jennifer was abducted by the LRA rebel army and forced to be the “wife” of a soldier. She contracted AIDS and gave birth to three children by him. She managed to escape during battle, but was shot in the chest while doing so. Miraculously, she survived. The bullet still remains. Jennifer is now in a process of healing and restoration at the Living Hope Center in Gulu. Despite the pain in her chest, Jennifer smiles. She has a peace knowing her children won’t join the ranks of millions of orphans in Africa, but instead be raised by their very own mother.
