I was meandering the halls of the Alhambra, a 14th century palace in southern Spain; light shimmered off reflecting pools as tourists gazed at the intricate designs carved into the walls and ceilings. In the midst of such man-made grandeur it was a flower that spoke to me the most. An explosion of color and delicate texture, the flower innocuously resided in the garden of El Portal. A beauty from another world, a world that transcended time.
