I have always dabbled in art and creativity since I was young. My parents still own painted rocks and bottles I designed when I was a little girl in the Northeast. I love getting my fingers in all those bright colors and seeing what I could create. I realized at age 18 while at Youth With a Mission in Tyler, TX that I wanted to do art for a living.

When I came back home I pursued my college degree and successfully completed a two year degree in commercial art at FMU (Florida Metropolitan University) In the coursework, I learned the old ways of design, including mechanicals, illustrations and film. That was a great background for me and I landed a job right out of college designing forms and checks. It wasn’t until I moved back up North that I decided I needed to get my Bachelors degree. I attended SUNY Plattsburgh and took a large amount of art history courses and loved almost every one of them. I retained so much of it that when I went to Paris, France on a college trip, I was nicknamed a future curator. I was able to describe in detail the backgrounds of the many famous paintings to my friends. I graduated in 2000 with a BA in Fine Art and a minor in Graphic Design from State University of NY Plattsburgh.

After graduation my husband and I moved back down to Orlando, FL where I got a job at a newsletter publishing company. I designed multiple full color brochures and newsletters on a daily basis. I moved on from there after about 2.5 years and decided to go freelance and that’s when Mazer Design was born. I made enough the first year to cover going to Photoshop World Orlando and I was thrilled! The following year I attended Photoshop World Miami as well, that year we decided to move back to NY and I closed Mazer Design. Overall, I worked in the graphic design field for 14 years, but I’ve discovered I’m more creative artist than business artist. So, I’m a graphic designer in a past life that is getting to be a little girl and paint again.

I’ve rediscovered my love for painting and I’m not looking back. I work in both digital, using my Wacom tablet, and traditional mediums, such as mixed media and acrylics. Mac Design and Photoshop User Magazine, both highly respected industry magazines, have showcased my digital art. I’ve been the featured art of the day on EBSQ, a self-representing artist’s website. I have successful Etsy.com and CafePress.com online shops where I market my work as well as cross promote on Flickr and my blog. I try to participate when I can on IllustrationFriday.com – it constantly challenges me and I love seeing new artists.

I am amazed at the talent I am finding online and I’m proud to be a part of the online artist community. I am inspired by classical and modern artists including Klimt, Picasso, Monet, Magritte and Lichtenstein, to name a few. My inspiration comes from my exciting life with my wonderful husband Jason, our beautiful daughter Lorelei and wherever my mood takes me. I have done and continue to do commissions for whatever inspires you.
